Ta-ku (aka Regan Mathews) has always called Perth home. A musician, entrepreneur, photographer and creative director, of Māori, Scottish and Filipino heritage, he is a true multi-hyphenate. While best known for his melodic beats, collaborating with the likes of Alina Baraz, Wafia and Masego, the versatile artist also has numerous other ventures under his belt, which he attributes to his diverse interests and ‘addictive personality’. Wanting to document his various adventures while touring and recording across the globe, Ta-ku first picked up photography in Tokyo and quickly became a Sony Australia Ambassador. From this newfound passion, he then created audiovisual collaborative platform Create & Explore, and co-founded creative label 823 and agency Pretty Soon, working with brands such as Puma, Nike and Red Bull. We chat to Reggie about reconnecting with his roots through travel, soundtracking his adventures, supporting emerging artists, and his Seoul Travel Playbook.
