After graduating from the W+K 12 school (an experimental school run by creative agency Wieden+Kennedy), Azsa West spent time in Berlin as part of an art collective, before returning to the US. But the artist and director was soon on the move again, and Asia was the place she would find the greatest inspiration, first in Shanghai, then Tokyo. As the Creative Director for Nike at Wieden+Kennedy in Japan, she was endlessly enchanted by the city: ‘You’re never not inspired, and new ideas come easier,’ she says.
