About
Pichaya Soontornyanakij — known to many as Chef Pam — is the Thai-Chinese-Australian chef behind POTONG, one of Bangkok’s buzziest restaurants. Raised in the Thai capital, Chef Pam trained in New York with renowned chef Jean-Georges, before moving back to her hometown to establish herself in the food scene there. Chef Pam is the youngest female chef to be awarded both a Michelin Star and Michelin’s prestigious Opening of the Year Award, and she hopes to replicate that success with future restaurants. She’s also creating a mentorship program for young female chefs, to provide easier pathways into top kitchens.
