After life in her native Australia and then the UK, Polly Borland found settling in Los Angeles ‘disorientating’. But the culture shock of living in a new, alien environment has allowed the artist and photographer – globally renowned for her iconic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II – to train her creative focus on the subjects of cultural, social and political darkness.
