As a Nigerian woman raised in Germany, cultural identity has always been a fascination for photographer and writer Serah Alabi. Time spent in the UK and Australia further evolved her style and outlook, but it was a two-and-a-half-year stay in Tokyo that informed and developed her creativity the most. Immersing herself in Japan’s unique culture and photographic history, she was able to chronicle both the country’s female perspectives and its take on the Black Lives Matter movement.
