Yassmin Abdel-Magied

Born in Khartoum, Sudan and raised in Brisbane, Australia, Yassmin Abdel-Magied set up social change not-for-profit Youth Without Borders at the young age of 16. By 24, she had released her first book, Yassmin’s Story, about her time as an engineer — and the only woman — working on a remote oil rig. However, Yassmin’s journey toward a creative career in Australia wasn’t without its challenges. Looking for a fresh start and a supportive community, Yassmin moved to London, where she has since published another three books, including her first foray into fiction, You Must Be Layla.
