Food writer and photographer Saghar Setareh grew up under the shadow of Iran's strict Islamic regime between the capital, Tehran, and Mashhad, before moving to Rome in 2007 to pursue her studies in art and design at the Academy of Fine Arts. Channelling the difficult experience of establishing herself in Italy as a non-white immigrant, she found her voice and visual language through her award-winning blog and Instagram account Lab Noon, exploring food and recipes through the lenses of identity, culture and politics. Saghar creates her unique, dramatic food photography for commercial and editorial clients including Peroni, Condé Nast Traveler and National Geographic, while her food writing has been featured in the pages of Italian national newspaper, Corriere della Sera. She also leads cooking workshops across Italy. Her debut cookbook, Pomegranates & Artichokes, tracks recipes on her journey from Iran to Italy.
