Joy

Taiwanese restaurant

Joy

"And if you're in the neighbourhood, there's so many great places to stop in: Joy is also really great and delicious Taiwanese food, and the Hermosillo which is a Highland Park brewery with really great local beers, nice light and watery pilsners, good crunchy salty snacks. Honestly if you’re going to Highland Park, there's just so many great places to stop in off the main street."

Marco Polo Trattoria and Bar

Italian restaurant
4141 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90029, United States
Marco Polo Trattoria and Bar

"But if you're not looking to go too far into Hollywood, I also tend to go to a place down the street in Silverlake called Marco Polo. It's my favourite spot for a delicious ice cold martini and a stack of fries. Marco Polo lounge is right up the street from me, actually. So it's kind of like a local watering hole."

Musso and Frank Grill

American restaurant
6667 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028, United States
Musso and Frank Grill

"I tend to be really big on martinis as a cocktail… There’s a pretty historic spot in Hollywood called Musso and Frank’s. It is like one of the oldest kind of ‘old school’ steak houses, and it's exactly what you would expect. They have shrimp cocktails and, you know, steak made in this beautiful inside wood burning oven that I think is actually no longer really permitted or permissible in LA, but they're kind of a historic landmark. They have one of the best martinis in the world."

Woon Kitchen

Chinese restaurant
2920 W Temple St, Los Angeles, CA 90026, United States
Woon Kitchen

"I tend to try to go to small businesses or places that are owned by people of colour. One of the first on my list is Woon. A friend of mine, Keegan (spelling?)  basically took all of his mother's recipes and now just churns out really delicious noodles. It's Taiwanese and in historic Filipino town, which is such a great neighbourhood. With really delicious beef noodles, and great cold snacks. It's honestly the best crave-able weeknight dinner takeaway that I've ever experienced, and he also does a lot of really great collaborations - really great fusions and selection of cocktails and drinks as well."
